Square Celt is a very vibrant, cozy Irish Pub. They have a wide variety of Irish dishes on their menu, and usually great service.

We went with our family to the Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday, and it was less than impressive. We went up several times to the buffet line and either they were out of plates, out of food, or out of desserts. The powdered scrambled eggs were unexpected. Real eggs would be nice. I went up to the line three times to get certain foods and they were out. They were supposed to have prime rib on the line, however it looked like a pot roast (when it was available). On a good note, the omelet station saved the day. The line chef was handling the omelet station, the waffle station, and the carving station all at once, which caused the line to move slow.

I did talk with Justin, the manager, about the situation. He was very apologetic, and mentioned that people were taking food faster (and a lot of it) than they could get it out. I think that they just were not prepared for the onslaught of the Orland Park Mother’s Day crowd!

That being said, I have never had a bad meal at Square Celt other than this day. Every menu item has been great (try the Shepherd’s Pie). They have a great beer selection, and their service is usually attentive. I will try to go back again, and hope that I continue to receive that quality of service.
